…Boosts Power Supply to Igando

Igando customers are set to experience improved power supply following the official commissioning of the Obadore 11kV Feeder recently at the Igando Injection substation amidst pump and pageantry. The event was witnessed by traditional rulers, community leaders and residents of the community.

According to the Business Manager, Oshodi Business Unit, Engr. Taofik Basanya, the Akesan 11kV Feeder had capacity to supply only 5.0MW out of the load demand of 7.8MW, meaning that it could accommodate about 40 distribution transformers out of 104 at a go, which led to load shedding. He also noted that efforts had been made previously to tackle the situation by constructing the Ayobo Feeder in 2015 but wasn’t sufficient to ease the strain, despite the huge capital invested by company”.

“Today, the new Obadore 11V feeder has taken 42 distribution transformers out of the 104, while 62 are still being powered by Akesan, this has increased power supply and feeder stability as well as brought about increased customer satisfaction.” Basanya explained.

In his response, the paramount ruler of Igando land, HRM Oba Gbadamosi praised the efforts of the IE team for completing the project on time. “As we speak, relief has come to us and we are elated that Ikeja Electric has fulfilled its promise of providing quality and reliable service to us”, he said.

He charged his subjects, especially the community leaders to help IE recover the outstanding debt on the Akesan Feeder, noting that the best way the community can show partnership is to settle the debt owed the Company.
