LAGOS NSCDC COMMANDANT VISITS IKEJA ELECTRIC

… In commemoration of World Civil Defence Day

The Lagos State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Tajudeen Balogun, yesterday, paid a courtesy visit to the Corporate Headquarters of Ikeja Electric in commemoration of this year’s celebration of the World Civil Defence Day.

In his speech, the Lagos State Commandant expressed gratitude to the management of IE for the unflinching support and commitment towards empowering NSCDC in carrying out its mandate of protecting critical infrastructure, national assets and the civil populace.

He reiterated his Command’s readiness and resolve to combat the menace of vandalism and energy theft amongst other nefarious practices. Balogun further noted that power is a critical asset which is strategic to the development of the country, hence his Command’s full commitment to the task of ridding the state of economic saboteurs.

In his response, the Ag. Chief Executive Officer of Ikeja Electric, Dr. Anthony Youdeowei, welcomed the Commandant and his team while also congratulating the them on the occasion of the World Civil Defence day. He called for strengthening of the relationship between NSCDC and Ikeja Electric.

World Civil Defence Day, which was created by decision of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) General Assembly in 1990 is celebrated every year on the 1st of March. This Day commemorates the entry into force of the ICDO Constitution as an inter-governmental organization in 1972.
