Ikeja Electric’s MD customers new connection process involves two steps

Step 1 – Request for Approval

This process is usually facilitated by a licensed electrical contractor who has been engaged by the prospective customer to handle the purchase and installation of a private distribution transformer and any other network extension or enhancement required to connect the new transformer to the IE network (“the Project”).

The prospective MD customer contractor completes a Request for Approval by logging on to Ikeja Electric DT connect Web App; https://dtconnect.ikejaelectric.com. The DT Connect App is a web portal housed on the IE website that automates the approval process. The contractor will submit all required documents (in PDF or jpg formats only) online.

How To Create an Account On IE DT Connect Web App?

  • Log on to; https://dtconnect.ikejaelectric.com.
  • Create an account as a contractor.
  • Follow the steps to fill the required information.
  • Upload required documents

The required documents to be attached on the portal are:

  1. CAC certificate of Incorporation,
  2. License Certification Safety Competence Certificate (Contractor’s Company Employee 1)
  3. License Certification Safety Competence Certificate (Contractor’s Company Employee 2)
  4. Contractor’s Company HSE Policy.

Once IE determines the submission meets all requirements, a letter of Approval is issued to the customer authorizing the licensed contractor to commence the project, and stipulating the standards and codes to be adhered to in the execution of the projects. Required documents are listed in the table below:

1 Letter of Authorization Letter from the customer appointing the contractor to carry out the installation project and authorizing the contractor to engage IE on its behalf.
2 Copy of Contractor’s Identification/License Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) Category A or Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
3 Clear Copy Customer’s Identification National ID Card, Valid Driver’s License, Permanent Voter’s Card, International Passport. State ID required for individuals and corporate organization. For Corporate; CAC incorporation certificate, CAC 7, CAC 2 and government issues ID of a director with the company’s seal/stamp affixed on all documents.
4 Copy of registered property ownership document Deed of Assignment, Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), or *Lease Agreement (at least 10 years)

*Lease Agreement must come with a Letter of Consent from the Property Owner granting the Tenant authority to register the electricity billing account in it name and an Undertaking that IE will be notified when the lease expires.

S/n Document Description
1 Letter of Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions contained in the Approval Letter. This letter is very important. It shows customers written agreement to IE terms and conditions for connection to its network.
2 Completed Ikeja Electric Maximum Demand Electricity Supply and Agreement Form. Form available for download from ikejaelectric.com and at all IE offices and locations
3 Letter of Guarantee of Materials. This letter is to guarantee that the equipment and materials installed are of the required standard as contained in the Approval Letter.
4 NEMSA Certificate. NEMSA Certificate issued after inspection of the project by representative of NEMSA
5 Copies of invoices of materials/equipment purchased. Upload receipt of purchase for all materials used (transformers, substations accessories, line materials, cables materials) etc.
6 Letter of Notification of completion of work. Required.
7 Copy of IE Bill. Required if the property has an existing IE electricity bill
8 Ikeja Electric Certificate of Project Completion IE Certificate for Project Completion will be issued after inspection of the project by representative of Ikeja electric Plc

Step 2 – Request for Commissioning documents

Upon completion of the project, the Contractor is to request for the commissioning (energizing) of the transformer that has been successfully installed. This process involves testing of the equipment, Project Management and Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) inspection by engineers from Ikeja Electric. Approval for commissioning is issued after the project has been certified okay by the respective inspection and testing units.

The request for commissioning is done online via; https://dtconnect.ikejaelectric.com . The contractor logs on with his/her username and password to submit the following documents:
