Cost Reflective Tariff, Our Challenge

The Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric Plc, (IE) Felix Ofulue has said the major challenge facing the sector especially Distribution Companies, (DISCOs) is the issue of cost reflective tariff.

According to him, there is a lot of short fall in the industry and the pricing is not cost reflective which is affecting the effectiveness of the business.

Speaking with Nigerian NewsDirect, he said “the business is running but we have a lot of challenges which one of them is tariff that is not cost reflective.

If it is cost reflective we will be able to balance up and able to carry out new development which is not cost reflective if it is cost reflective at least we will be able to balance up and able to carry out new development”

He said effort is on the way to improve the region megawatts to 1250mw which presently stands at 400mw per day adding that said the company is committed towards quality service delivery.

He said, “Averagely we get 400mw per day, but some time it’s 200mw but the best we have done is 500mw in the past two to three years averagely put we get 400mw”.

He lamented on the high debt owed the company by customer including government and various corporate organizations saying the debt is slowing down the pace of the work.

He therefore called on the affected customers to ensure timely payment of the charges for efficiency and smooth relationship.
