Ikeja Electric Inducts 32 Graduates Into Its Young Engineers Programme Scheme

As part of efforts aimed at developing human capacity through training, Ikeja Electric has inducted 32 graduates into its ‘Young Engineers Programme’ scheme which is a 12-month classroom and hands-on training and mentored by experienced engineers in the industry.

Borne out of the need to continuously refresh Ikeja Electric’s manpower with smart and passionate Young Engineers, the YEP scheme, since its inception in 2014 has admitted and graduated a total of 66 Young Engineers from the programme, many of whom have gone ahead to build successful careers at Ikeja Electric.

Speaking at the induction ceremony on Thursday, the Acting Head, Human Resources and Administration Officer, Henry Ajibola, stated that the company aims to build a technically competent organization with the required technical and functional competency.

He mentioned that the 2019 Young Engineers Programme is a blended learning experience designed to equip fresh young engineers with the knowledge, skill and ability to succeed in Nigeria’s power sector.

Top on the list of guests at the ceremony was the Board Chairman, Mr. Kola Adesina, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Anthony Youdeowei, Chief Operating Officer, Folake Soetan, Head HR & Admin, Henry Ajibola, Chief Technical Officer, Sunday Oyewole and the CFO, Olubunmi Olukoju.

Ikeja Electric continues to dictate the pace in human capital development for stability sustained growth of the power sector, making it the leading distribution company in Nigeria.
