Ikeja Electric Partners L.E.A.R.N To Advocate Electrical Safety For Teenagers And Youth

Ikeja Electric, Nigeria’s largest power distribution company, has collaborated with Lagos Empowerment and Resource Network (LEARN) to promote safety of children against potential electricity hazards at home and school.

The Company was at the LEARN Centre in Surulere, Lagos on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 to educate students on precautionary measures that can protect them from electricity hazards. To help the students understand and also cultivate habits that promote safety, the team of Ikeja Electric staff had an interactive session with the children who were engaged with PowerPlay©, Ikeja Electric’s educative and entertaining board game.

Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric, Felix Ofulue, said “this initiative was very timely and significant because children are often vulnerable to electricity hazards especially during the holidays when they spend more time at home. That is why as a responsible company we have decided to increase their consciousness about safety measures.”

The game which is a registered trademark of Ikeja Electric, is conceptualized and manufactured locally. It comprises a segmented board, dice, tokens and labelled cards with instructions on how to play. The Power Play game was formally presented to the Project Manager of LEARN, Mrs. Aderonke Oguntoyinbo, who commended Ikeja Electric for its efforts toward promoting the safety of lives and property through the game. She noted that by playing the game the children would learn and consciously practice safety measures that can protect them against danger.
