Ikeja Electric Announces Grid and Metering Upgrade on Shomolu Express Feeder LAGOS, NIGERIA; October 16, 2026

Ikeja Electric Plc has announced plans to commence a scheduled grid and metering upgrade on the Shomolu Express Feeder from Monday, October 19, to Wednesday, November 11, 2026, as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening network infrastructure, improving power quality and enhancing customer experience.

The exercise will involve field installation activities undertaken sequentially across nine distribution transformer locations. During the upgrade, customers served by each affected transformer should expect a temporary electricity supply interruption lasting an estimated maximum of three (3) days per transformer.

The affected distribution transformer locations are:

  1. Adeyemo Adeyera
  2. Architect Taiwo
  3. Ramat 2
  4. Ramat 1
  5. Aroyewun
  6. Niyi Adedeji
  7. Craig
  8. Omoighodhalo
  9. Pariola

Ikeja Electric wishes to emphasise that the exercise will be carried out sequentially, one transformer location at a time, and not simultaneously across all nine locations. The overall project is scheduled for completion by November 11, 2026, subject to operational requirements and the progress of the work.

KYC Registration and ARN Required for Reconnection

As part of the upgrade and reconnection process, affected customers are required to complete their Know Your Customer (KYC) registration and obtain an Application Reference Number (ARN).

Upon completion of the work at each transformer location, reconnection through the smart metering system will be subject to the successful completion of the required registration process.

Customers who have not yet updated their details are strongly encouraged to visit https://smartkyc.ikejaelectric.com or the nearest Ikeja Electric office for assistance. Completing this process promptly will help minimise potential delays in reconnection following the upgrade.

Safety and Customer Advisory

Ikeja Electric appeals to residents and businesses in the affected areas to cooperate with field personnel and observe all safety precautions while the work is ongoing.

The company sincerely regrets the inconvenience the temporary disruption may cause and appreciates the patience and cooperation of affected customers.

This initiative underscores Ikeja Electric’s continued commitment to improving network infrastructure, strengthening operational efficiency and delivering safer, more reliable and efficient electricity distribution services.
