A staff of our organization, Ikeja Electric Plc, Nigeria’s largest electricity distribution company, Mr Michael Oladeji has been awarded the “Best Qualifying Candidate Award-2017” by the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN.
Michael, a business analyst who works in the Management Information Systems (MIS) Unit of the Disco, received the award in recognition of his performance, scoring the highest aggregate scores in the Institute’s examinations for 2017.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Michael said, “My motivation to succeed at all I do is largely intrinsic. The truth is that I love and have deep passion for finance and accounting. I enjoy playing with numbers and I understand figures intricately. This is largely where I derive my drive from. It sits well with my chosen career path and basically keeps me feeling fulfilled.”
When asked how he coped with studying alongside a busy work schedule, Michael had this to say. “ To be honest, as much as I love the courses, time to study was quite a challenge. I had to make a deliberate sacrifice of sleep, putting in as much time to studying at odd times. I also had to devise a reading plan and I did my best to stick with that plan. It wasn’t easy I must say but when you want something badly, I guess you just put in a bit more effort and then some”.
The brilliant analyst, who expressed delight at the award, noted that it came to him as a surprise. “My goal was just to qualify. I had no particular goal or interest in getting any award. I am grateful to God however for it and I am glad to have accomplished something that I can be very proud of”
