…As Staff Volunteer In Market Cleanup Exercise, Donates Cleaning Tools
As part of its support for the Cleaner Lagos Initiative of the Lagos State Government and in furtherance to her environmental sustainability message, Ikeja Electric Plc, (IE), Nigeria’s foremost Distribution Company has embarked on a market clean-up exercise in one of its host community at the Alade Market under Shomolu Business Unit.
The exercise, which forms part of the company’s Personal Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, is aimed at giving back to Communities under its network coverage.
This year’s market and street clean up saw Ikeja Electric staff defy the heavy rain downpour to sweep the market, unclog gutters and remove dumped refuse along the street among other activities.
In his welcome remarks, the Babaloja General of the market, Alhaji Yinusa Bashir commended Ikeja Electric for being consistent with its PCSR initiative, especially with the Community and Market clean-up exercise.
“The effort of your Company is really commendable and worthy of emulation by other Companies, this will no doubt encourage other companies and even the residents of the community as it will go a long way in preventing outbreak of diseases and environmental hazards” Alhaji Yinusa remarked.
Ikeja Electric has continued to give back its host communities, investing in notable empowerment programmes targeted at improving the lives of residents.
