In view of the story in the public space to the effect that NERC has directed customers who have not been metered to stop paying electricity bills given to them by the DisCos, it has become pertinent for us to offer the following clarification.
The NERC statement specifically refers only to MD (Maximum Demand) customers, not all categories of customers.
We are happy to report that our MD customers have been provided with meters as directed by NERC and are no longer billed by estimation.
While we are making concerted effort to provide meters for all our customers, we shall continue to ensure the integrity of our bills and will do everything within our mandate to comply with all NERC directives.
We, therefore, urge our non-MD customers to please avail themselves of the content of the directive and be rightly guided.
We further urge our esteemed customers and the general public not to be swayed by publications whose sole objective is to drive discourse away from the original intent of the statement in order to achieve objectives that are not in the overall interest of the public.
