Ikeja Electric Holds Safety Sensitization in Primary Schools to Mark Children’s Day

Leading Nigerian Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja Electric (IE) has joined the nation at large to commemorate the 2017 Children’s Day, by visiting several primary schools within its network to create awareness on electricity safety.

As a socially responsible corporate entity, Ikeja Electric identified the need to teach kids from an early age, the importance of safety with regards to electrical equipment and appliances and chose the Children’s Day celebration as a platform to do so. Speaking on the initiative, the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue, noted that “habits you pick as a child tend to stick with you through life, as such by teaching the kids how to maintain their safety around electricity, they are learning important life-long safety skills”. Ikeja Electric Donates Mosquito Nets To Mark World Malaria Day

Lagos, Nigeria: April 25, 2017: Ikeja Electric Plc, Nigeria’s largest electricity distribution company, has joined the global fight against malaria as it marked World Malaria Day with the donation of treated mosquito nets and medical tests to six riverine communities in Lagos.

Determined to combat the dreaded disease, which is prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa, Ikeja Electric partnered with frontline Health Management Organization, Hygeia HMO Limited, to donate the Malaria prevention items to residents of Olambe, Igando, Ilaje-Bariga, Ijede, Oke-ira and Aboru communities of Lagos State. It is in keeping with this wisdom that Ikeja Electric, as part of her Personal Corporate Social Responsibility (PCSR), donated different set of books to various Primary schools under its network coverage areas including Abule-Egba, Akowonjo, Ikorodu, Shomolu, Ikeja and Oshodi. Commemorating World Book Day, a recognized yearly United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) event which holds every March 23rd, Ikeja Electric joined various governments, private organizations and individuals to donate books and encourage reading among children.
