Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company PARTNERS LASG ON ENERGY CONSERVATION

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, has concluded arrangements to partner with the Lagos State Government on energy conservation to reduce unnecessary wastage of electricity by consumers.
This is one of the issues raised during a courtesy visit to the General Manager, Lagos State Electricity Board, LSEB, Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi by the Management of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company led by the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Abiodun Ajifowobaje.

Ajifowobaje said the incidence of energy wastage in Lagos is part of the problems militating against the effective distribution of electricity, as the energy being wasted could be easily utilised by other customers. He noted that consumers have formed the habit of putting on electricity, when not in use.

He therefore sought the assistance of the State Government to partner with the Company in enlightening electricity consumers on energy conservation.
The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company Management also sought the assistance of the State for the removal of structures erected under power lines, as these posed serious threats to human lives as electrical lines may snap and affect people living or trading under the lines.

Responding, Ogunbiyi said the issue of energy wastage is at the heart of the State Government, and is part of the issues in focus for its upcoming 7th Lagos Economic Summit, tagged, “EHINGBETI 2014.”
She said that the Government had started an awareness campaign to educate Lagosians on how to manage electricity wisely and economically.
